Great Air Show at Edwards AFB

October 23rd, 2009

This past weekend I took my son to the air show that was held at Edwards Air Force Base in California.  They used to (in the good ol' days) put on a show about once a year.  This was the first in 3 years, so we weren't about to miss this one (and thanks to my wife for reminding me that it was coming ;-) )

Was fun to share all of the great aircraft w/ my son.  They performed a live reenactment of the bombing of Pearl Harbor.  It included authentic Japanese Zeros and pyrotechnics.  A large variety of aircraft flew, including: C-17, C-130, T-38, P-38 (Lightning), F-16, F-22, B-52, B-1, B-2 and others.  The F-22 Raptor truly stole the show.  It has the capability to turn on a dime … and also nearly stand still.  It even "slid backwards" at one point.  Very impressive.  It was further evidence that we have some of the most advanced aircraft in the world (and in my opinion, we need to keep it that way!).

On that note, please always support our troops!
